Runs for All Skill Levels in Breck

Skiing in Breckenridge is a peak wintertime activity, but if it’s your first time at the resort, you might be feeling overwhelmed and confused about which ski trails to check out first. Whether you’re an expert who loves flying down steep, tree-filled slopes or a beginner who is just starting to understand the fundamentals of skiing, there’s plenty of runs that will be perfect for you across the five peaks that make up Breckenridge Ski Resort.

Come with us as we explore the best greens for beginners, blues for intermediates, and blacks for experts in Breck.

The Best Green Ski Runs - Beginner Ski Trails at Breckenridge Ski Resort

Have a Blast on Rip’s Ride

Of all the peaks in Breck, Peak 8 might just be the best for beginner terrain, and the Dyersville trail, located off of the Rip’s Ride Chairlift is perhaps the perfect starting point for green skiers. This short, sweet, and straight trail is a great way to get your feet wet with skiing, especially if you haven’t quite perfected your turns yet. Lined with gorgeous pine trees on either side, this trail also offers scenic views of Breckenridge that you won’t soon forget.

Ride the Quicksilver Superchair For Your Choice of Green Runs

Not sure what green run is right for you? Check out all of the trails available off of the Quicksilver Superchair, located on Peak 9. From Silverthorne for those who still want to go in a straight line to Lower Lehman for skiers who want some river views with intermixed blue terrain, there’s something for everyone off of this classic chairlift.

Ski the Longest Trail in Breck

Want to take in the scenery while still challenging yourself? Take a look at the 4’O’Clock Trail, located off of the Colorado Superchair of the Peak 8 Connect Chairlift. While the upper half of this trail does stray into intermediate territory, if you can conquer the beginning of the trail you’ll be rewarded with 3.5 miles of skiing that will get your adrenaline pumping and offer great views along the way.

Find Your Flow with Blue Runs - Intermediate Trails on Breckenridge Mountain

Get Your Ski Legs on Peak 9

Peak 9 is great for beginner terrain, but where this peak really excels is in blue ski trails, such as Bonanza or Briar Rose. Bonanza in particular is fairly easy and typically filled with slower-moving traffic that is still learning, but it’s a great trail to get back into the swing of skiing after a long spring and summer season. If you’d like to challenge yourself, however, take on Gold King. This fast and mainly-straight run is one that will force you to focus, but the reward of adrenaline you’ll feel once you hit the bottom is indescribable.

Check Out the Trails on Peak 6

On Peak 6, the terrain is much different than what you’ll find on Peak 8 and 9, with much more exposure to the wind and conditions that can change on a dime. There’s nothing like being above the trees, however, lost in the alpine bliss, taking on two aptly-named blue runs: Reverie and Bliss. Because of the conditions on Peak 6, on a perfect powder day you’re likely to have these two runs mostly to yourself, making them the perfect coupling to complete while you’re exploring this side of the resort.

Challenge Yourself on Expert Ski Runs - Black Trails at Breck

Head to Peak 10 for Some Challenging Terrain

Of the five peaks at Breckenridge Ski Resort, Peak 10 is reserved for only the best skiers. If skiing is like walking to you, be sure to check out some of the expert-level runs on this peak, such as Spitfire and Corsair to the left and Mustang and Cimmaron on the right.

Spitfire in particular is a gorgeous, curvy black trail, lined on either side with towering alpine trees, though it is quite narrow in some places. Mustang is a better trail if you like wide open spaces, with some incredible views that will blow your mind. However, if you’re hoping to ride a long line all the way down the mountain, take a look at Centennial. Though this run isn’t the most challenging, its steep terrain will certainly keep you on your toes.

Explore Peak 9’s Black Runs

While Peak 10 is often the destination for expert skiers, Peak 9 should not be missed out on either. With runs like Inferno, Purgatory, and Shock, you’ll have your pick of the litter. For those who like to ski moguls, Inferno is the perfect choice, with plenty of bumps for you to navigate. Shock, on the other hand, is a great run for those looking for a little spark of adrenaline, with a steep drop and tons of moguls to keep you rocking and rolling as well.
