6 Unique North Lake Tahoe Things to Do

North Lake Tahoe Has So Many Hidden Gems

Lake Tahoe is one of the most magical destinations in the world, and there’s a reason that travelers flock to this area during the winter and summer months. Who could ask for more than a crystal-clear lake set against the backdrop of incredible mountains?

Today, we’ll take you on a journey to explore some of the best unique activities while you’re staying on the north shore of the lake. Whether you’re a fan of kayaking or you just want to kick back, relax, and enjoy some s’mores and the sunset, there’s options for just about any personality.

#1: Kayak Through the Boulders at Speedboat Beach

One of the most unique parts of visiting Lake Tahoe is seeing the abundance of geological formations that dapple the lake. From the smaller erosion-smoothed boulders to the larger rock formations that you can find on the beaches, there’s tons to see, and Speedboat Beach might be one of the most unique places to do so. Rent a kayak and head over to this small neighborhood beach to explore the abundance of boulders and formations from up close for a unique North Lake Tahoe activity you’ll never forget.

#2: Try Your Luck at the Crystal Bay Casino

Are you feeling lucky? Many people travel to Tahoe specifically to enjoy the abundance of casinos in the area, and the Crystal Bay Casino is no exception. Filled with slots and just about any card game you could desire, this casino is great for anyone who wants to try out their luck and have a good time while they do it.

Another draw of this casino is the abundance of live music events available for patrons to enjoy in the Crown Room, and during the summertime Crystal Bay is often filled with fellow music fans looking for a good time. No matter if you’re a gambler or you just want to enjoy a show in the lively casino atmosphere, there’s no better place to do it than Crystal Bay Casino, located close to Stateline Point.

#3: Tube or Raft on the Truckee River

During the summertime, one of Lake Tahoe’s most fun activities is one you might not expect: tubing or rafting down the Truckee River. To start your river adventure, take a look into one of the companies that offer this fun activity, like Tahoe River Rafting (also known as Tahoe’s original rafting company) or Sierra Adventures, to schedule your ride down the river, or you can rent your own tubes or raft from these companies as well.

#4: Watch the Sunset With S’mores at Hyatt Incline Village

After a long day of winter or summer activities in Lake Tahoe, what better way to relax than to sit in front of the fire and devour s’mores with your friends and family? End your day on the best note ever by heading over the Hyatt Incline Village, located off of Lakeshore Boulevard on Country Club Drive, just before sunset.

You don’t have to be a hotel member to sit in front of one of their firepits, and it’s only a small investment to pick up one of their s’mores kits to prepare this magical dessert. Sit back, relax, and enjoy Mother Nature’s lights show while you devour your delicious treats in front of the fire.

#5: Take a Brunch Cruise (With Free Mimosas)

Looking for a boozy way to unwind on the water? Check out the Lake Tahoe Mimosa Cruise from AWS Incline, which offers a 1.5hr ride on their gorgeous 55-foot Sierra Cloud Catamaran that comes with free mimosas once you’re aboard. This cruise takes you on a short tour of Tahoe’s eastern shores that you’ll never forget, unless you imbibe on too many beverages, that is.

Along with the mimosas, the cruise also gives patrons access to a variety of beers, other alcoholic beverages, and light appetizers for brunch. One of the most unique experiences you’ll find on the lake itself, be sure to check out this fun activity next time you and your group want to party on the water.

#6: Wander Through the Trees at Treetop Adventures

A visit to Tahoe Treetop Adventure Parks will give you a birds-eye view of Tahoe, while still thrilling and challenging even the fittest members of your group. Choose from one of three parks, located in Tahoe City, Tahoe Vista, and Olympic Valley, and wander among the treetops in these harrowing (but still safe!) treetop obstacle courses.

We recommend the Tahoe Vista location especially, due to the amazing views you can get of Lake Tahoe while you’re on the course. However, if you are afraid of heights, this activity probably won’t be best for you, since you’ll be spending a ton of time off the ground. Check out these aerial adventure parks for a unique and interesting North Lake Tahoe activity.
